About The Program

Join us at the East CIO Congress, a premier professional development event tailored specifically for K-12 technology leaders. This year’s theme, ‘Turning Challenges into Opportunities: Empowering K-12 Districts to Achieve More with Less,’ sets the tone for an engaging experience. Over the course of two and a half days, we’ll explore today’s hottest topics, from cybersecurity and AI in the classroom to navigating the intricacies of 1:1 devices. This event offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the forefront of technology, foster collaboration, and exchange knowledge with fellow K-12 tech professionals.

Topics Of Discussion

Fulton County Schools CIO, Dr. Emily Bell, will describe how leveraging existing platforms pivoted the district to pandemic and post pandemic success. The session will emphasize data dashboard development, curriculum content management, data standards, and the district’s emerging AI strategy.

Discover the future of school district management in “AI in Action: Transforming School District Operations,” led by Dr. Joe Phillips. This session is a thrilling journey into how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing areas like IT, safety and security, food service, transportation, facilities, and more. Dr. Phillips will demonstrate how AI is not just an add-on but a game-changer, overhauling traditional methods for unmatched efficiency and effectiveness. However, navigating this new terrain comes with its challenges. He will also address potential pitfalls and ‘land mines’ to avoid, providing essential strategies for successfully integrating AI while mitigating risks.

Ginger Jackson, CTO for Cleveland County Schools NC, will spotlight K-12 tech integration, emphasizing financial sustainability. She’ll share her district’s strategic device purchasing/selling approach, sparking discussion on strategies in education, within a 45-minute session. This event will explore how technology bolsters education while nurturing a sustainable purchasing plan.

In this session, led by Dr. Melanie Hutchinson, Director of Instructional Technology at Lee’s Summit School District, you’ll dive into the world of EdTech and its transformative role in online education. Discover innovative strategies to build meaningful connections with students in virtual classrooms. Explore a range of tech tools that empower educators to engage students on familiar platforms, allowing them to tell their stories and connect authentically. Learn how to form success teams that rally stakeholders to support students effectively, ensuring their success in the digital realm. Join us to revolutionize your online teaching approach and create a lasting educational impact.

Artificial Intelligence has quickly become one of the most talked about topics in education! With the benefits of AI come some challenges and fears. This session is meant to solicit feedback from districts around the topic of AI and how it is being used. The session will also include an AI playground where prompts and tools will be shared to help increase district office efficiency! Bring your laptop and get ready to explore some of the best AI tools leaders can use to increase productivity and return time to our very busy days!
