About The Program

The Fall CIO Congress assembles technology leaders from K12 Public School Districts, offering two and a half days of networking, insightful content sessions, and personalized meetings with solution providers. Embracing the theme of “Building Future-Ready Schools: Integrating Education and Technology for Safe and Innovative Learning Environments,” our discussions span topics from data privacy and security to inspiring students to emerge as future technology leaders. This event is a unique opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and collaborative problem-solving, fostering a dynamic community of educational technology enthusiasts.

Topics Of Discussion

Learn how Lawrence Public Schools has taken local action to address some of the most pressing issues facing schools today – the “homework gap” and school district general fund spending, all while enhancing equitable access to learning for students across the district. Through careful planning and coordination with local government and funding sources, USD 497 has installed a private fiber network ring to connect all its school buildings. Learn how, through this project, the district will save substantial dollars in general fund spending on internet services, build equity across the district to bridge the digital divide and increase learning opportunities, and create capacity to expand free and CIPA-compliant Wi-Fi to students throughout the district outside the school day through establishment of LTE access points on the district’s private fiber network.

Optimizing and reducing technology funding for education requires careful planning and consideration to ensure that resources are used efficiently while still providing valuable instructional technology tools and resources for both students and educators. In this session, we will explore a range of strategies that districts can employ to achieve a balance between providing innovative technological solutions and making fiscally responsible decisions. We will discuss strategies to review and optimize technology spending by using effective tools and resources to make data driven decisions. This session will be both informative and interactive.

Data Privacy and Cybersecurity are often considered to be one and the same. And while it is true that mitigation plans for each often converge, they are two very necessary and unique, but complementary components in a Cyber Safety practice.

Many of the considerations that go into planning for one may be present in the other, but while Data Privacy is more about Stewardship, Cybersecurity is more about Defense.

Students are our number one priority. As leaders, we want to see all students strive to be their best and find their passions. To support students interested in the field of technology, learn how your Technology Team can inspire students to explore a career in technology. Participants in this session will learn how school districts can build a pipeline of options to inspire students to find a love for technology driven careers. Special focus will be given to note how positive mentorship can help girls see how their innovative ideas can lead to limitless opportunities in technology careers.
